Our Philosophy
C- Children
At Hamlyn Terrace Early Learning Centre, the children are our main priority. We believe they play an important role in our service and, very soon, our community. They are our future and, as a result, our greatest, most valuable assets.
U- Unique
We are the same, but different. Here at Hamlyn Terrace Early Learning Centre, we understand and celebrate this. We understand we all have different interests, beliefs, cultures, traditions, needs and abilities, which is what makes us so diverse, special and unique.
L- Learn
Our goal as a service is to inspire a passion for learning. We believe in learning through play and adapting from past experiences. We believe that children are confident and capable learners, and our role as educators is to assist and work alongside them. We understand that children have different learning styles and different interests; we will support them as they explore, learn and grow.
T- Teach
Teaching is something that can be applied by educators, other children and the environment. We believe in the importance of the more knowledgeable other, whether they be peers, educators or the physical environment. Teaching can be applied in many forms, as learning can be achieved in many ways.
U- Unity
To be united is to be as one. We believe in the importance of working with the community and parents. We believe in the power of unity, community, partnerships, and relationships. We believe that working together effectively and holistically will form strong, honest and reciprocal partnerships, laying a strong foundation for our children to learn.
R- Rights
We believe that the rights and interests of the children are paramount. We believe they have the right to learn, question, succeed and have an identity. We respect their right to choose, have a voice and make mistakes.
E- Environments
We understand the important role the environment plays. We look at this holistically. Our physical environment is one that inspires and provokes a passion for learning, as well as further connecting the children to the natural world. We strongly believe in our sustainable practices and emphasis on caring for the environment.
